Numarine's two latest explorer yachts will also be their quietest and most tranquil ever, thanks to a renewed focus on noise attenuation.
The brand is already renowned for low noise and vibration levels aboard, but the new 30XP and 45XP models take it to the next level. Whisper-quiet, both at anchor and under way, the new yachts aim to elevate the experience of life aboard.
The shipyard has worked closely with industry-leader Silent Line to achieve these stunning results. The 30XP is now the quietest yacht in the sub-50m class, thanks to its diesel-electric propulsion system and a specially designed acoustic generator enclosure.
30XP is whisper quiet
Little wonder, then, that the new model had already attracted four buyers ahead of its global launch at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2024 with further orders since then. In the boat's four luxurious guest cabins on the lower deck, sound levels barely reach 40dBa even when under way at 7 knots. In the breathtaking master stateroom on the main deck it is quieter still at 38.1dBa - lower than the soft sound of rainfall.
At anchor, it is another story again. Using Silent Line's expertise, the Numarine team has managed to ensure that sound levels are better than in all but the most exacting of environments, even with aircon and the generator running. The master stateroom is again the star performer here, with just 23.8dBa measured. To put that in context, it lies somewhere between a whisper and the rustling of leaves. In other words, it represents extreme peace and quiet; utter relaxation.
Built in GRP, it is doubly impressive that the 30XP has achieved this class-leading noise performance. Accommodation is generous, with four VIP cabins on the lower deck and a full-beam owner's cabin on the main deck that is bathed in natural light. Its signature feature is the raised, open aft deck, creating exceptional headroom on the deck below, where three fold-down platforms increase the space available to 43 square metres.
"At Numarine, we have always wanted to do better than our European competitors," said founder and chairman Ömer Malaz. "Our boats must be able to take you wherever you want to go in whatever conditions, and do so in comfort and safety. That's why we have worked so hard to move the dial on noise levels aboard. After decades of experience, I still believe that there is nothing more luxurious on a boat than silence, providing the opportunity to fully engage with the people and the seascape around you."
The quest for silence never ends, however, and so Numarine's new flagship has pushed these boundaries even further. The first Numarine 45XP incorporates a raft of technical enhancements that help to reduce noise and vibration even more. Working again with Silent Line, the measures are based on state-of-the-art modelling and next-generation products.
"As Silent Line we are proud and honoured to be a long-term partner of Numarine Yachts," said Sjaak van Cappellen founder of Silent Line. "Today's noise and vibration results are based on many years of research and the optimisation of in-house computer modelling, in which the data is abstracted from intensive noise and vibration measurements on board Numarine's composite and steel yachts."
45XP in a class of its own
It means that the 45XP has saved nearly 3 tonnes of weight by using Silent Line's latest design of sound insulation, which actually outperforms its predecessor. Clever new flexible mountings for the engine and generators are even more effective at reducing structural vibration, while floating floors, partitions and ceilings all work harder than ever to dampen noise transmission. Even the aircon is quieter than before.
It all means that when the new Numarine 45XP is launched, it is predicted to steal the crown of its little sister as the quietest yacht in the fleet, and the quietest on the market below 50m. And yet, it offers oceanic range, extensive accommodation inside and out and epic storage that rivals others in its class.
In hot climates, the beach club comes into its own, with a huge indoor-outdoor section revealed when the transom folds down to become a generous platform. Guests can also choose between the shady aft deck, a more intimate foredeck lounge area or the panoramic view from the well-equipped sun deck. There's also room for a serious tender and a host of toys on the upper deck, where a large crane makes light of lifting and stowing.
A spacious owner's stateroom takes pride of place, forward on the main deck, where its full beam design offers not just abundant natural light but a private terrace on the bow. A fold-down balcony by the dining section of the main saloon invites guests to step outside with an after-dinner drink in hand. And four beautifully appointed guest cabins offer flexible accommodation on the lower deck.
"We are very much looking forward to showing off the capabilities of our new flagship," added Malaz. "We have worked hard with Silent Line to ensure that the Numarine 45XP runs more quietly than any other we have built. They have been fantastic to work with on this project, which marries their acoustic know-how with our boat-building expertise."
