What a show on the first day of the Dutch Youth Regatta 2025! The 29er fleet hit the water in full force, with 40 teams lining up at the start, ready to face the challenges of the open Oosterschelde.

It was a spectacular sight — skiffs flying across the waves, determined faces, non-stop trimming, and full commitment on every leg. From massive wipeouts to glorious wins, this was skiff sailing at its finest.

Although three races were scheduled for the day, the conditions told a different story. As the wind built steadily to 20 knots, the fleet was only able to complete two races before being called back to shore. The Oosterschelde made it clear: it's not just a playground — it's a proving ground.

After two intense races, FRA 3425 (Alexandre Mostini & Raphaël Allain) and NED 3253 (Beerdluuk Spijkervet & Thomas Reyers) share the top spot on the leaderboard, both teams showing serious speed and solid control. It's game on for the days ahead.

Back on shore, the atmosphere remained festive. Two ladies in traditional Zeeland costume crafted real boterbabbelaars, a sweet local treat. Kids enjoyed creative workshops, and Roompot's beloved mascot Koos made new friends at a cheerful meet & greet.

But today belonged to the 29ers — carving, crashing, and conquering the wind and waves. The Dutch Youth Regatta is off to a wild and unforgettable start!

Leaders after Day 1:

FRA 3425 – Alexandre Mostini & Raphaël Allain
NED 3253 – Beerdluuk Spijkervet & Thomas Reyers

Tied at the top — both teams showing speed, skill, and serious determination
