Arc Boats update: October 2022

Until next time, Tahoe © Arc Boats

The days are getting shorter, but we're making the most of every hour of daylight as we take our latest Arc Ones out on the water.

September highlights

  • The Arc One came home from Tahoe after three action-packed weeks of demos. We hosted boatloads of guests, met many local organizations, had a photoshoot and squeezed in surf and ski sessions whenever we could. We can't wait to return.
  • Serial No. 2 hit the waters around LA for its first series of tests. Compared to Serial No. 1, this boat has a refined hull shape, crisper interior details and superior range and efficiency. Oh, and it's even quieter.
  • We shipped Serial No. 3 to paint. We've switched from powder coating to liquid painting the boat to improve how it weathers.
  • We made big strides in bolstering the boat's software — customers now have a digital means of unlocking the boat and turning it on and off via touchscreen.
  • Four new hires joined the crew, including our first facilities coordinator.
  • The team headed up to the mountains for its second retreat. What does the Arc crew do to unwind? We take electric boats out on the lake, of course.

October preview

  • We'll lock in our final Arc One sales for the 2023 boating season.
  • Local LA boat demos continue. Want to test out an Arc One? We'd love to have you aboard. v.
  • Hello Texas! We're planning demos on Lake Austin at the end of the month. Sign up here.
  • Fleet progress: We'll rigorously test Serial No. 2, install the motor and battery packs on Serial No. 3, send Serial No. 4 to paint, and make way for the newest boats on the production floor.
  • We'll continue to hire for 13 open roles, including a backend software engineer and a controls engineer.

Better batteries... better boats
An electric boat with the performance of the Arc One is made possible by in-house battery packs Thanks to decades of research and development in the automotive industry, today it's possible to buy ready-made battery packs off the shelf. How do you charge an electric boat?
There are many charging options and speeds available Many people associate "range anxiety" — the concern of having enough battery to make it to a destination — with electric cars. Likely because of that association, we get questions all the time wondering if electric boats have similar charging concerns. Posted on 2 Mar 2023
