The Notice of Race for the 2026 29er European Championship is released today, officially opening the road to Lipno 2026 for teams across Europe and beyond.

Set in the heart of Central Europe, Lipno Lake will host the 2026 29er European Championship from 1-8 August 2026, welcoming the continent's top youth skiff sailors for a week of high-level racing in a unique freshwater venue. Surrounded by nature and known for its relaxed yet competitive atmosphere, Lipno provides the perfect setting for a memorable European Championship.

Lipno is renowned for its shifty, tactical conditions, where sharp decision-making, strong positioning and smart race strategy make the difference.

With compact racing areas and practical onshore facilities, Lipno creates an environment that is both competitive and welcoming. The venue is widely appreciated for its cosy, sailor-focused atmosphere — everything is close by, the setting feels like home, and organisers and volunteers are known for always finding solutions to sailors' needs.

The 2026 29er Europeans promise intense racing, close competition and a true celebration of the 29er class in one of Europe's most distinctive sailing venues.

The 2026 29er European Championship represents a key milestone in the international 29er calendar, bringing together the strongest European teams in a venue renowned for developing complete sailors through tactical, high-pressure racing in challenging conditions.

Representing the international class, Pippa Kenton Page, Executive Director of the International 29er Class Association, commented:

"The International 29er Class are very excited to be returning to the Czech Republic in August, this time to host our annual European Championships. While the class has previously enjoyed racing in the Czech Republic through Eurocup events, it is the first time the country will host a 29er Championship, making this occasion particularly special. This event promises to be a wonderful experience for everyone involved both on and off the water, with the highest levels of competitive racing on the beautiful Lake Lipno combined with an action-packed social program enjoying some of the local activities this stunning natural setting has to offer. Sharing passions and making friends for life from all around the world, alongside the tightest of racing to crown our 2026 European Champions, this event will certainly be one to remember!"

Adding a local perspective on the upcoming championship, Jana Kostalova, President of the Czech 29er Class Association, shared the following welcome statement:

"It is our great pleasure to welcome all sailors, coaches, and supporters to the 29er European Championship on Lake Lipno in Cerná v Pošumaví, Czech Republic. This unique venue, set on the country's largest reservoir and bordering the Šumava National Park, exactly in the middle of Europe, offers a remarkable combination of steady winds, beautiful natural surroundings, and challenging racing conditions that make it an ideal stage for top-level youth sailing.

As organizers, we look forward to an exciting championship filled with fair competition, strong sportsmanship, and memorable experiences both on and off the water. Our team is fully prepared to deliver a well-run, high-quality event, and we are committed to ensuring that every participant enjoys excellent racing and a warm Czech welcome. We wish all competitors the best of luck and an unforgettable week on Lake Lipno."

The 2025 29er European Championship saw a strong international fleet and outstanding performances across all categories. The overall title was claimed by the German duo Lucas and Moritz Hamm, while the Mixed category was won by Italians Giulia Bartolozzi and Pietro Rizzi. In the Women's category, victory went to the Polish team of Antonina Puchowska and Alicja Dampc. These results set a high benchmark for the teams heading to Lipno in 2026.

Get ready for fast decision-making, tight racing and unforgettable moments on Lipno Lake.
